True Mores: Silk and Bamboo Bedding FAQ

Why should I spend all that extra money to purchase silk bedding?

That is a great question and if you are looking to purchase silk sheets for the first time then this purchase can definitely be a tough one. However, once you buy silk sheets... you will never sleep in anything ever again.

  1. Romantic and Elegance - This is one of my favorite benefits of silk. It's very romantic and has the nack for bringing you closer to your spouse. There is no scientific proof of this, but when you sleep in these sheets the endorphins in your brain will be firing like crazy.
  2. Hypoallergenic - Silk sheets, as long as it's 100% mulberry, are 100% organic sheets and they naturally repell dust mites, mold, moisture, and fungus. So if you're like most of people in the world, you probably suffer from allergies... if you sleep in silk then you will not have to worry about allergies at all.
  3. Great for your Skin - Silk contains many proteins and many amino acids that are great for the skin. Silk can actually improve wrinkles in your skin and even prevent wrinkles. It's also really great for your hair.
  4. It Lasts a Long Time - The pure silk that's sold at TrueMores.com is the strongest fabric. Silk will last a long time and that alone is worth more than the cost you will have to pay.

There are many other benefits of silk, but these are the big ones. If you have any further questions... please email or call us and we will definitley help you out.

Where does 100% mulberry silk come from?

The process of making silk bedding is really interesting.

Mulberry silk, which is the best silk, comes from the Bombyx mori moth. Most silk comes from harvested silkworms. They are fed mulberry leaves like crazy because mulberry produces the finest silk. When the worm changes into it's moth state, it will create a massive silk cocoon.

The cocoon is what's used to create the silk fabric. Did you know that if when the silk filiment that makes up the cocoon is unraveled, it can streath 7 miles!

The filament is then used for silk fabric and we get to enjoy this incredible luxury.

What the difference between your silk bedding and others and why the price difference?

This is a really good question because there is a big difference and it's important to know about. Even if you don't have the budget to purchase silk sheets right now, don't buy sheets that are silk blends or say they are silk when they are only cheap satin sheets.

First off, our silk sheets are real 100% pure mulberry silk... the very best and we have the best relationship in the business and can even do custom sheets. But these are the real deal and that is why they are pricier than other bedding sheets.

If you are looking at silk blend sheets than you should stay away. Not only are most blends much weaker in their design so they fall apart, but when you take other fabrics and mix it with silk, you lose all the great benefits of silk bedding.

I hate satin sheets that try to pass off as silk sheets. They are completely different and it's important to realize that and that is one reason why we sell satin sheets too... we carry the best so you can have good satin sheets, but know that satin is man-made... silk is 100% organic.

Is the silk in your stores 19 momme silk?

Yes! we only sell 19 momme weighted silk. This is a measurement that is a way to determine the quality of the silk. The only main weight of silk is 16 momme. The main difference is the thickness of the sheets. That means that the 19 momme are more luxurious, a little more durable, and just feel much better.

If you order from TrueMores.com then you know that you are getting the best, highest quality silk sheets you can possibly get.

So you take custom orders or custom sizes?

Yes, we definitely do!

If you have a custom order, it's best to contact us first and make sure we can fulfill your order. We usually can get pretty creative, but we don't want to promise something that we can't deliver on.

So be sure to call and if we don't answer, just leave a message.

How Deep Are Your Sheets?

All the sheets are TrueMores.com are built mainly for 14" deep mattresses. The silk sheets can fit up to a 16" depth however... but they are optimal for 14"

Everything else is 14" depth.

I really like my cotton sheets and don't want silk... what should I do?

I actually talk to a lot of people about this. If you don't want to try the silk sheets because you don't know if you want the slippery feeling then you really have to try the bamboo sheets.

Bamboo will feel softer than cotton and it won't have the slippery feel either. It's probably the perfect sheet for you and it's much better than cotton would be. Here's why...

Cotton breaths well, but not as well as bamboo. Bamboo share an amazing quality with silk in that is can whisk away body sweat very easily. That really helps you to regulate your temperature and keeps you feeling great so you can sleep.

I highly encourage you to try bamboo sheets if you are a current fan of cotton.

What's the difference between seamed silk sheets and seamless silk sheets?

Silk is a very difficult fabric to make as I am sure you've learned by reading some of our other information on this site. Because of this, silk only can be made to certain widths and that means you have seams in the sheets.

These seams are not very noticeable when you sleep but they are there to accommodate the different sizes of our beds.

Seamless silk sheets do exist but they are much more expensive because it takes a whole new process to create the sheet without the seam. We do carry seamless sheets but only in an ivory color.

Please check the seamless silk product to learn about the measurements because they can only be made up to a certain size.

I highly suggest you just go with the seamed silk. It's not going to disrupt your sleep and you will definitely save some money. The silk itself is exactly the same... 100% pure mulberry 19 mm silk.
