I am sure you have noticed that there have been some pretty chilly days already and it’s only early Fall. Here in Charleston, it was in the 40’s this morning. That is down right freezing for this time of year, for Charleston that is.
But you might be wondering if silk is the right type of bedding to keep you warm with this cooler weather… and can does it even hold a chance of keeping you warm when it’s cold?
Yes is can! And it can do it better than any other sheet.
The same principals that make it great in the summer, actually make it great in the winter. Silk is a wonderful insulator, but it breaths well too.
Here’s what that means…
You will stay warm from your own body heat but it get moisture from perspiration to the surface of the sheet quickly and then evaporated. This makes sure your body temperature does not go up.
Most winter bedding like heavy cottons, flannel, and polyester… even some bedding now contains spandex… are not good at this. They don’t move the moisture quick enough and your body starts to get really hot.
Another really great thing about silk when the temperature falls is you don’t need a lot of it to keep you warm. In fact, our Summer Special, will work really well for most people in the winter too.
A silk duvet cover keeps you very warm and you really don’t need the flat sheet that much. But if it gets very cold where you live then you have a few options.
First, you can use the flat sheet, which I suggest you do…
And/or
Two, you get a higher momme weight sheet. The 22mm or 25mm silk sheets are great for cold weather. They are heavier and they will hold in more heat, yet they still have that light feeling so you won’t suffocate.
Let me know if you have any questions regarding using or buying some silk for the cold weather. Once you give it a try, I am almost guarantee that you will never want to sleep in anything else again.
