When you think of silk, most people tend to think of this really light an airy fabric that has the unique ability to keep you really cool. While this is true, if you think this, you are missing out on one of the greatest benefits of silk... and that is using during those cool and even cold Fall and Winter nights.
Silk is more unlike any fabric and in fact, the only fabric that can come close to it is bamboo. But it can keep you really warm during the winter too. Don’t get me wrong, you will still need a warm and cozy comforter, but let’s look at why this happens to be the case.
First, silk is a great insulator but what that means in this case is consistent temperature regulation. So for example, in the summer when it’s really hot, the silk will not let all of the hot air in because it is insulating your how body heat. The same in the winter... all of the cold air is kept out but your body heat still remains.
When you use a good comforter on top, then you add more protection from breezes and moving air to insulate even better. That makes silk the absolute best winter fabric and bedding with bamboo being not too far behind.
So if you already have silk then you are pretty much good to go, but if you don’t and you are nervous buying it now because we are not too far away from cooler weather... well now is actually a perfect time to purchase a set and see what you’ve been missing.
