I wanted to write a new and updated article on our sheets because there has been confusion over the seams and why they exits in silk bedding. It's good to know that they exist in many other types of luxury bedding.
The seams are there for most of our sheets because we buy silk that is woven on a 140cm loom. This creates fabric that cannot fit over an entire bed. So you have to sew these panels together to create a full sheet.
In the past, our seams were very small and you could barely see them. However because they were so fine, they required extra special care when washing the sheets. Many of our customers had problems damaging these seams. This was a big problem we had and we wanted to make the sheets nearly invincible.
So we came out with our current seams. It's not invisible but it's strong and it is much easier to deal with when caring for your sheets.
Both seams can't be felt when you are sleeping of laying on your silk. So the only real difference is the fact you can see the new seams. But for a sheet that should last you over 3 years, that is definitely worth it.
We also have seams running the edges of our sheets. So if you buy a queen bed set, you will notice the fitted sheet as seams running the edges of the bed. This creates a great fit for the fitted sheet with more accurate measurements. I also happen to think the seams on the fitted sheet look better than no seams.
No seams on the edges make measuring the fabric for a good fit much more difficult. Always remember with 100% silk sheets, you need to have some extra fabric. Silk does not stretch at all so you want that extra fabric to you don't pull or ruin the sheet.
These seams are designed to give you a great 100% pure mulberry silk bed set. One that if you properly care for, will last you many years. There is no doubt that your sleep will improve greatly and once you lay on silk you will never want to touch anything else.
