There are many things that are looked at in great lights, but that does not mean that they don't have some secrets it's good to know about. There are some really good examples of this when it comes to luxury bedding and the most famous has to do with bamboo. Most luxury bedding materials are labeled as organic, but is that really the case?
Now it's time to reveal the truth about some of these luxury bedding materials so you know what you're getting. Besides, there are few things worse than thinking you have one thing only to later learn that it's not really what you thought.
First: Bamboo Fabrics Aren't Really Organic Like You Think
Bamboo sheets and bedding is a growing product. When it comes to the bedding made of bamboo, it's really great... soft, looks good, and it even has other factors like temperature regulation. However, bamboo has to go through a process where the resulting fabric is actually a rayon or viscose fabric.
You'll probably be scratching your head like I was when I first learned of this, but this fabric isn't synthetic per say but it's not all natural either. What really happens here is a chemical reaction to create the fabric which comes from an organic material. It's goal is to best imitate real silk in feel. This produces some pollution that needs to be handled with care.
Either way while this makes bamboo not 100% organic per say, it does not diminish the ability for bamboo to make a great bedding material.
Second: Pure Silk Fibers Are Very Different
Another really popular, but difficult fabric to find, is silk which also has some stories and secrets that are good to know about before you buy some. What is really great about silk is the fact that it's one of the only fabrics that is really 100% organic and there is nothing else that is inside silk.
But when you are looking at silk sheets, there are different quality of silk that is produced. Silk worms are either wild or they are captive and each of these produce different types of silk. The best silk is produced by silk worms raised in captivity. However, China has some severe pollution issues and this is actually making it harder to raise the silk worms because the special environment they need.
As you can tell, there is a lot of information that is hidden from in the luxury material world and sometimes it's definitely on purpose. It's really important knowing this information though because when you learn something about a produce you just bought that isn't what you thought, it's never fun.
