How To Wash Luxury Bed Sheets So They Last You a Long Time

By: Dan

To help improve sleep, which is really important in our lives, more and more people are getting interested in luxury bedding.   Even though luxury bedding is amazing to sleep on and even romantic, it does come with a price... it takes special washing and care.   These luxury fabrics come with some special directions that are important to follow when you wash them.   For this article, we are going to look at silk and bamboo luxury sheets and how we can care for them.

Let’s take a look at silk sheets first. Silk is a great fabric but you will notice that when you sleep on it, it gets wrinkled pretty quickly. This might cause you to wash your sheets are little more often but you can’t just put them in the washing machine.  There are different types of silk and some types, you can take them to the dry cleaners but the usually you want to do something else.

The best thing you need to do is hand wash your sheets in a small tub.  Make sure you don't wring or scrunch the sheets during the wash or after, but all you need is some cold water and a little gentle detergent.  Just lightly soak it, and then wash it off. Then immediately let it dry by draping it over a chair out of sunlight. You will quickly notice how fast it dries. This same process applies to everything, even a silk duvet cover.

Then we have bamboo sheets and these are much easier to deal with, but they are not as luxury as silk will be.  You can easily use cold water in your washing machine, but you must make sure that you use cold water.   These sheets will pill very easily if you start to use warm water.

Both bamboo and silk sheets can be ironed to get remaining wrinkles out of them. Most irons these days have a special setting that is gentle.  A steamer works really great as well for both of these sheets, but of course you will want to be certain that you use the gentle setting. As you can probably tell, they will take a little more work to wash and some more care, but the better sleep you'll get is by far worth the that price.
